Phần giới thiệu khái quát Khu di tích Xẻo Quít tọa lạc trên hai xã Mỹ Long và Mỹ Hiệp, huyện Cao Lãnh, tỉnh Đồng Tháp, cách quốc lộ 30 khoảng 06 km, có tổng diện tích khoảng 63 héc-ta. Từ năm 1960 đến năm 1975 Tỉnh ủy Kiến Phong (nay là Đồng Tháp) đã chọn nơi đây làm căn cứ để lãnh đạo nhân dân tỉnh nhà góp phần cùng cả nước thực hiện thắng lợi cuộc kháng chiến chống Mỹ cứu nước. Xưa kia, nơi đây là vùng đất hoang vu, sình lầy, đầy cỏ dại và là vùng nước ngọt nhiễm phèn, lắm muỗi, nhiều đỉa. Việc ăn ở, hoạt động của cơ quan Tỉnh ủy chủ yếu dựa vào sự đùm bọc, che chở của nhân dân quanh vùng và phải đào mương lên liếp để ngăn xe tăng giặc, xây dựng công sự và trồng cây gây rừng, cải tạo địa hình để trú ẩn và hoạt động. Rừng tràm di tích hiện nay là thành quả của cán bộ, chiến sĩ và nhân dân địa phương thực hiện chủ trương trồng cây gây rừng của Tỉnh ủy. Ngày nay, tràm ở đây có tuổi thọ khoảng trên 60 năm và mỗi cây tràm là biểu tượng của tấm lòng dân che chở Đảng.

The Xeo Quit Historical Site is located in the Mỹ Long and Mỹ Hiệp communes, Cao Lãnh district, Đồng Tháp province, about 6 kilometers away from National Highway 30, with a total area of about 63 hectares. From 1960 to 1975, the Kiến Phong Provincial Party Committee (now Đồng Tháp province) selected this location as a base for leading the provincial people to contribute to the successful resistance war against the United States. In the past, this area was a wasteland, marshy and overgrown with weeds, with brackish water, mosquitoes, and sandflies. The accommodation and activities of the Provincial Party Committee relied mainly on the support and shelter of the people in the surrounding area. They had to dig ditches to prevent enemy tanks, build fortifications , plant forests, and transform the terrain for shelter and operations. The melaleuca forest, which is now a historical relic, is the result of the efforts of local officials, soldiers, and people who carried out the Provincial Party Committee's afforestation policy. Nowadays, the melaleuca trees here are about 60 years old, and each tree represents the people's dedication to protecting the party.
